Deluded, I have believed in my unrelenting strength
And inevitably I have become weak
Now I feel events changing, and I already know
The emotions which unlock distant memories
From my soul I retrieve the hope which in my tired body now
Has stopped beating, like a fire quenched by my tears
In my hands I take with me a trickle of water
And in the desert a blade of grass will survive
I do, I do emerge from the depths to fight and then
Go higher than ever before
I do, I do look to the future and smile
Not fearing anything anymore
In an instant, new aspirations are also ahead of me
A scenario of wins and losses unfolds
In the silence, the reflections of ages leave a path
Breathing, I notice the circular motion, and then...
Time has stopped to outline new borders, and I
Press further on, gathering my strength against the wind
In my hands, the reflections of ages leave a path
Walking, I retrieve the indelible trail
I do, I do rail against the cold, extinguished eyes
To always be the best I can
I do, I do go beyond impregnable worlds
Not fearing anything anymore
I do, I do emerge from the depths to fight and then
Go higher than ever before
I do, I do look to the future and smile
With a new identity

Until only it rises...

No automatic crossposting from twitter or facebook, so:

Just got home from Boston. Pet the cat, found a FedEx envelope on the table; a letter of acceptance from St. George's University in Grenada.

I began this journal three years ago. Last post, before tonight, was March of this year.  I just glanced back over all the entries, looking for something I wrote about that I could shoehorn into the following prompt:

Describe a personal experience which resulted in a substantial moral or ethical dilemma.  What was the outcome?  We are reluctant to accept assertions that you have never encountered such a situation.  Please do not address cheating in an academic setting.
(Limit your response to 250 words or less.)

This is for the University of Pittsburgh, and I'm frustrated.

Ok, no fewer than two humans on my adium contact list sent me this column, which caused me to laugh mightily. I put it up here for your delectation, but only the first two paragraphs and a link, so that y'all may hammer on sfgate's servers and convince the people that write the checks that Jon Carroll's stuff is worth keeping around.

The following is the first communique from a group calling itself Unitarian Jihad. It was sent to me at The Chronicle via an anonymous spam remailer. I have no idea whether other news organizations have received this communique, and, if so, why they have not chosen to print it. Perhaps they fear starting a panic. I feel strongly that the truth, no matter how alarming, trivial or disgusting, must always be told. I am pleased to report that the words below are at least not disgusting:

Greetings to the Imprisoned Citizens of the United States. We are Unitarian Jihad. There is only God, unless there is more than one God. The vote of our God subcommittee is 10-8 in favor of one God, with two abstentions. Brother Flaming Sword of Moderation noted the possibility of there being no God at all, and his objection was noted with love by the secretary.

Greetings to the Imprisoned Citizens of the United States!

I'm still on the waiting list at EVMS. Their orientation begins in exactly one week. Admissions says that rarely does a year go by that somebody doesn't get taken the day of, or a week in....
